I’m pleased to welcome you to the Department of Political Science.
Political Science is an exciting field owing to its complexity, diversity, and above all, its relevance to the modern globalized world. The Department is one of the oldest seats of learning in the field of political science in Pakistan, offering post graduate programme since 1964, and has completed its Golden Jubilee in 2014. The Department has a history of producing high quality graduates who are well known for their research and scholarship and for their service to the nation in the fields of politics, civil services, judiciary, print and electronic media, arts, sports, and NGOs.
The Department aims at providing the best possible education to its students by instilling modern skills in qualitative and quantitative research and analytic reasoning, and enhancing their creativity for exploration of new ideas by employing interdisciplinary approach. The Department’s commitment to intellectual rigor is complemented by its resolve to individual grooming and personality development of the students to make them active citizens and professionals by infusing the true ‘Ravian Spirit’ in them. The Department has always sought to harness the core competencies of its students in order to enhance their ability to excel in the field of their choice.
In order to materialize our intrinsic belief in skill and research oriented education, the Department offers various platforms for the students’ learning through participation, e.g., Weekly Research Colloquium, Study Circle, Quaid-e-Azam Youth Assembly, Movie Club, and research collaborations with international institutions. The Department also publishes an HEC recognized research journal, The Journal of Political Science, which provides an opportunity to its students and faculty to get their research published.
